Download finished, but installation is not completing. It has indicated “less than one minute remaining” for over 45 minutes!
Mac Mini, late 2014, which had Mojave previously, if that matters. Screen has not gone to sleep either. What should I try?

17 hours and counting…
I took notes. This is what it did:
Starting in Software Update, Monterey was identified as the available upgrade
The download took about 45 minutes, then a 3 minute delay
Dialog changed to Installing for about a minute
Then it went back to Checking for Updates
Big Sur was identified as the available upgrade
Repeat download, Installing and Checking for Updates as above
Monterey was again identified as the available upgrade
After clicking on download, it went right into installation
Then it Restarted (post #6), then it restarted again
I went to bed
When I first looked this morning, it was in Recovery mode
I used First Aid to “repair” the disk
I selected Install Monterey, and here it sits, on at least the second restart

I discovered that my Time Machine backup was very old, so I didn’t go that route.
My important files are also saved on a flash drive.
I’m wondering if Mail and Calendar can be accessed from the Cloud if this ever works.
I also have the latest bookmarks.plist and stickies.plist saved, as well as a Calendar backup.

Just wondering...
How much free space was left on your drive BEFORE you tried to download and install Monterey?

I believe it needs LOTS of free space -- much more than previous OS's...

Not sure how much space I had before, but I don't save movies or lots of music. It's all sorted now. Up and running with Monterey.
