Installation Stuck for 20 hours -- ideas?

I've been stuck at 7 minutes for 20 hours now. This seems...excessive.

I have a rMBP 15, with a Transcend 960GB disk. The disk is pretty full, though most of it is my 600+GB iPhoto library.

Is there a way for me to tell what's going on? I clicked on the OS X Installer/Utilities menu and it's beach-balled for the past 15 minutes.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Do any of you have experience with it taking this long & then completing? What's likely to happen if I reboot?

When I first installed I was stuck as in the program says it's downloading but there were no time remaining or any progress. So I kept restarting and restarting and trying again. Eventually it loads and i'm successfully running Yosemite Beta on my rMBP

Are you installing this over top your Mavericks installation? If so, (bad idea) how much free space did you have on the drive before you started?

I was -- and I had about 130G of the 960G free. Why is installing over Mavericks a bad idea?

It's a bad idea because Yosemite is a beta and it filled with bugs. If you're installing this over your primary, or only, Mavericks installation, you stand to risk losing some or all of your stuff, especially if you don't have a backup.

I took Wolf's suggestion & bailed out after 21 hours.

On reboot, the install began just 19 minutes estimaed, and sure enough it breezed through in that time. All's good now, up & running Yosemite. No idea why it hung the first time through, but...

IF you hang for hours, it seems that a forced reboot might be your golden ticket.
