Hi everyone before I write this new drive off as broken I would like to know if I need to do anything after I put a new HD in my mac. I bought the hitachi 7k200 200gig hd and when I booted up my install cd it didn't find a destination drive. Am I missing something or is my hd just bad? Thanks

You need to format the drive first.
In the Apple menu from the installer interface there should be an option called Disk Utility. Open that and you should be able to erase/format the hard drive to HFS+ (Journaled).
Then you will be able to install.

Great advice Yippy. That's the first thing I'd check. I have the same exact drive from Newegg, and went through the same thing a few weeks back.
