Hi guys, this evening I installed a new stick of ram into my mid 2010 mac mini, replacing one of the original 1gb sticks with a new 2gb one. The computer starts up great and I can see the performance increase. But then the computer seems to freeze after a little while I have tried rember memory scan and it says all is good. Now iv taken it out and put the original stick back and all seems fine. Any ideas or is it just a dud stick? Thanks

If you've taken the new stick out and replaced the original and you're now running without issue, I think you've answered your own question.
What brand of RAM is the new stick? Mac's have been known to be a little finicky when it comes to what brands of RAM work.
I've always used Crucial without problem, but there a number of other quality companies that make RAM.
I was coming to the conclusion that it was the stick and iv sent it back asking for a replacement. It was Kingston branded ram, I thought they were a decent brand tbh, but I will see what happens when the new one comes in a few days, I was just wondering if there was something I was over looking like the system not liking non matching brands, maybe a setting somewhere I needed to change. But thanks for the input anyway. Il just see what happens with the replacement and then go for Crucial if that's a no go too!
