Installed new RAM in Intel iMac - Restarts when woken from sleep mode

I just installed 2GB (2x1GB)ram into my iMac Core Duo 2.0 ghz. The memory registers fine and everything, however when the iMac goes into sleep mode and I go to revive it, it just restarts. I had this problem with the first set, so I exchanged it for another set and still have the same problem (problem does not occur with the original 512mb chip). The memory is Mushkin brand DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel.

Is there anything I have to/can do after simplying installing the new chips?

If you reinstall the Apple stock memory, does it sleep properly?

[Edit] - OK, I see you said it doesn't happen with the 512.

I would guess its a problem with the particular build of the RAM modules, I would try a different brand, perhaps one that the seller has tested and guarantees intel iMac compatibility on.

Yes, it does.
This is the second set. I ordered from newegg.com and the first set had the same problem. I exchanged it for a new set and am still having the same problem. I'm wondering if there is anything in terms of settings or otherwise that I need to do with the iMac that can get it to work properly. I'm thinking of exchanging it for a different brand (Kingston probably).

new egg usually has some crucial/micron. It should be great.

I know the old iMac uses Kingston memory

You should only buy from vendors who offer lifetime guarantees and guaranteed compatibility.

No. the Mac is configuration-free in this regard.

Kingston is good if you stick with the KTA-MBP667... series. I wouldn't personally go with the KVR ValueRAM series.

There are a number of other good brands, including Crucial (again, I would shy away from the Crucial Rendition line), OWC and Data Memory Systems. Look for a seller who tests and guarantees Mac compatibility.

Question -- is NewEgg paying shipping both ways on the replacements?
