Config:
Mac Pro 5.1 2012 with BootRom 144 / installing Monterey / using OCLP to install.

Installed Mac OS Monterey 12 to a MvMe PCIe SSD and it will not boot , i get a gray screen with a circle and a line through the circle.
The PCIe is a OWC Accelsior 4M2 - PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD Adapter Card... there are 3 blades installed. one has the OS...

Might it be SSD related?

Please advise.

That is the prohiibited boot sign - OCLP should be handling things for you. I would ask questions in the OCLP discord channel.

What it means it your OS is not compatible with your mac - this is what hybridization is supposed to fix so my guess is something is wrong with your OC configuration.

Can you boot a supported operating system like Mojave?

Looks like the SSD is not compatible.

You have to bless your new drive, using the command "bless". Or the bootloader can't locate your Opencore EFI partition to boot up.

Sorry that I missed this - 990 has compatibility issues. Given everything else you report that seems to be the problem

i believe the 990 will not work booting.
i am trying a OWC OWC 1TB Aura Pro IV PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2
monterey installs using oclp 1.01 - but still does not boot
from power on it goes the the boot picker then tries to load the OS, then blanks , then back to the boot picker,
this takes place a few times , then MP powers off

how exactly do you bless a MvMe SSD?

i set up my 2009 Mac Pro 5.1 / Cleaned Boot Rom, installed Monterey w/ OCLP to a 2TB OWCmvme ssd installed in a Sonnet - McFiver card, with no problems. and boots from mvme and runs great and as we chat here. I did not remember any drive blessing taking place unless maybe OCLP did that in the background automatically.

however - having problems with a similar set up booting MvMe SSD, with my 2012 MP 5.1 / tried a Sonnet McFiver card, tried 990Pro SSD, tried OWC aruas ssd, tried OWC 4x4, tried Sonnet 4x4.
Some reason my 2012 won't boot from MvMe ....

anyone's thoughts or experiences. ?

You can't boot Monterey from the Apple-bootpicker. You have to use the dark OC bootmenu.
Press alt-key while starting, select OC while also HOLDING esc key, then select your Monterey.

could you boot from the flashdrive efi and access the config and then select the Monterey from the boot list and set him the next boot drive from now on.
flashdrive yes / I have 2 selections on a dark screen boot picker, [ Install Monterey OS ] [ MacOS ] the macOS is the SSD mvme i stalled 12.7 to. i can select one of them , but it does not boot to desk top, it just back to the boot picker over and over, many times, then powers down.

The installation hasn't finished.
Select "Install Monterey OS" and wait. Several restarts are necessary until complete installation is ready.

when you say ALT key do you mean the Command Key ? I'll try it.

ok - i was thinking the Install did not finish, i will try and get back.

i'm assuming since the install did not complete, during this process, the flash OCLP should be in a USB port ....

// ok tried selecting Install Monerey OS, and it brings me to "Recovery"
what now ?

forgot to mention using a non-metal card during install.

Looks like you didnt install the oclp to the flashdrive first. If so, you should have the efi icon under some item.

held down the Alt [Cmd] key while booting, i get a dark boot screen,
I get [Install Monterey] [MacOS] - No OC icon present ? please advise ...

in retro, when i hold the [Option] key whilst booting I do see the [OC EFI] icon .... but gray screen, not black.

Alt and Cmd are not the same key. You want to hold the Alt/Option key to show the boot-picker screen. Choose the EFI icon, then press enter. Next screen, choose your actual boot drive.
But, you said that you think the macOS install is probably not complete, so you should see a choice for an installer, so choose that one instead.
With OCLP - always go for the two-step boot choice: Option boot, choose the EFI first, press enter, then choose the volume that you really want to boot from.

ok i'll try that and get back.

i hold down the Option key, get a gray screen with EFI, i select EFI and press ENTER, on the next screen i get [Install Monterey] [MyOS] , if i click on Install Monterey, it goes to recovery, does not continue any install. If i click on [MyOS] which is ssd i installed to it keeps rebooting to the 2 icon black screen , auto chooses [MyOS] and boots over and over , many times, then powers off

You should take some steps back and make sure that the Mac Pro works as expected with vanilla Mojave.

Trying to make a Mac Pro config that you are not sure that is working with unsupported macOS releases is a sure way to have big headaches.

Not useful for debugging NVMe boot ability issues. Install vanilla Mojave.

Be sure that you have everything working with Mojave before trying anything else.
