Hello,

I followed the instructions from "https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/adding-usb3-0-to-late-2009-imac-11-1.1979806/#post-26064070" which were limited but gave me a lot of hope. But, after doing it all I find myself with 2 more USB 2 ports. Basically the system identifies a USB 3 Superspeed Bus and a USB 3.0 High Speed Bus. But, when I connect drives to the new ports they only load on the USB 3.0 High Speed Bus.

I am using the moded AppleUSBXHCI. FWIW all the info listed under the 2 buses is identical in the system information windows. Same PCI dev ID, rev ID, vendor ID, and bus number.

Installed kexts and setting dev mode to 1 was all new stuff to me. I tried the Generic USBXHCI but same results.

Anyone have thoughts?

My thought is that your post in the aforementioned thread, where the discussion is taking place, should result in answers. There is no need for a new thread.

That's an interesting question - as far as I can tell yes. The drivers are mounting - just as USB 3 - Hi-Speed (not super speed).

I hope you're right - though given the age of the thread after the fact
Are you using the proper cables? Are they inserted all the way?
