Installer.app installing problem

I'm hoping someone could help me out with this. I have got an unlocked iPhone 1.0.2 and I would like to get installer on it so I can virginize and update to 1.1.4.

I have downloaded installer.app from nullriver to my win Vista laptop. I downloaded the version for my firmware 1.0.2. When I connected my iPhone to the computer and run installer it goes up to about 80% and then it looks like its not getting any further. When I click on details the log says it could take several minutes. I waited for 10min and then gave up. Is this supposed to take that long?
Is it because I have got Vista thats causing met this problem?

Would be greatful for any help with this.

if you want to get to 1.1.4, just restore your phone to 1.0.2 and do an upgrade to 1.1.4. I know ziPhone lets you unlock 1.1.4. You may want to go that route. I would do a little research, as I have never unlocked an iphone. But i know for certain that ziPhone does both unlock and jailbreak 1.1.4. I have 1.1.4 jailbroken.
