I have a disaster on my hands. I put off installing the new Installer update because my gut told me not to. I should've listened because now my phone is dead in the water.

I installed it and when I touch the installer button, I get a blank page for a second then it blows out and all my icons come flying into my home screen. I cannot open Installer, cannot install or delete apps. Basically, I'm screwed.
I'm not advanced enough to know how to fix this manually by moving files around from my Mac to the iPhone or any of that.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? One person at Modmyifone did this for his fix:

"ok... I found out how to fix mine. I used my friend's iPhone who is using 1.1.2 and copied the installer.app from his iphone to mine and voila... working fine. I posted up the file on my personal site. Here is the link: http://www.nfocusproductions.com/installer.zip
Download it, unzip and use an FTP client like Cyberduck (Mac) and replace the Installer.app that you have in there.
For PC, you can use CuteFTP or any other way to SSH into your phone."

IDK if that would fix it or not, but would anyone know of any instructions how to do this? (move a file from a mac into the iPhone)?

:) So... I'm finding it hard to believe no one did the Installer update and had a problem. :)

I think my only recourse is to either revert back to 1.1.1 (or 1.0.2?) and spend 2 hours starting from complete scratch again - OR.... copying the Installer file from my mac to my iPhone via SSH which I don't think is on my phone, nor do I see any tutorial on how to move a file over that is designed for people who aren't already versed on this level of expertise.

I've read about the problem elsewhere. Apparently it has to do with having old resources that aren't compatible with the update. Are you on 1.1.1? Then just restore to 1.1.1_ISPW - Do NOT attempt to restore if you're running 1.1.2. Do NOT update iTunes to 7.6 yet.

1.1.1 Restore File Link

I'm running 1.1.2 with iTunes 7.4.?
I can't imagine there were any old resources on this phone. I upgraded/updated things each day, etc.

I think my first goal is to try to manually move the Installer file (which I have) into the phone from the Mac
