Yes you could, you would have to erase and install but most definitely. I'd be curious as to why you would want to run 10.3, or do you only have the DVD version of Tiger?

You are want to go from Tiger (10.4) to Panther (10.3).

And you want to do this on an iMac G5.

oh i want to put it on this 9gb in my imac g3 with 128mb ram and no firewire just for my mom for the internet and it doesnt have a disc drive so i have to hook it up to the imac g5

No cd rom in the G3? Odd for it to be missing. You could borrow a USB external DVD/CD drive. Perhaps a local computer store might be kind enough to loan one with a holding deposit.

If you put the iMac G3 into Target Mode, it will act like an external disk when connected to your iMac G5. Then you'll be able to insert the install CD into the G5, and select the G3 as the location for the install.

kk no i dont have firewire thats why i want to use it off the imac g5

Only if you use a Firewire target disk kind of configuration or use special software like XPostFacto. By default, Apple OS install discs will generally refuse to install on computers from the next era up. I.E. if you boot a computer that shipped with Tiger on a Panther install DVD, it will generally refuse to install Panther.

You've asked this question several times now, though, in this thread. Are you actually reading any of the replies?

No. You cannot put an OS onto a computer that is older than the computer itself.

No, you can not install an older version of OS X than what originally came installed on the computer from Apple.

well 10.3 would boot up but would not install on the second hdd i dont know why then the hdd like confused itself and like i dont really know

No. You cannot put an OS onto a computer that is older than the computer itself.

As long as the Model Identifier is the same as the one that could run 10.3, then it might run.

But the ones that had an upgrade between the time of 10.3 and 10.4 likely not.

Since the hardware changes sort of lock a machine into a minimum OS.

Basically the ones that will usually run the older OS are the machines around before the new OS shipped, as soon as the next model comes out it usually locks the user into the later OS.

But each model identifier usually comes with a minumum OS install, which the System Restore discs usually have. The retail OS X DVDs tend to usually be a ways behind the System Restore DVDs.
