Installing 2X2GB from MBP2010 on Mini2011

Bought the Mini 2.3 with 2GB. stated to be PC10600. I have two modules from my MBP that are PC8500. I assume the lowest speed would have less affect than the extra 2GB I'll get from the "downgrade". can I install these modules in the new mini? will it work?
