Installing a printer

Hi all. I did a clean install of Monterey on my MBA 2020 and all went well. I now want to install a Samsung Xpress M2026 printer via USB. I used this printer before formatting my Mac, and remember it being a pain to install.

I have tried downloading drivers (lots) manually, and none are recognised by the Mac. The manufacturer drivers seem to be .exe files and it all just goes around in circles.

The Mac recognises the printer, but does not print.

Can anyone help me? Really need to print some stuff.

Which version of MacOS are you running on the MBA? Assuming Big Sur: the generic PCL driver in Big Sur will work with that printer. Go to System Preferences/Printers and Scanners and delete the printer, then add a new printer. It should automatically select Generic PCL Printer (assuming you have no other conflicting drivers). You can additionally install the Samsung Easy Print application.

Yeah, I was able to add my wife's Epson, but while my trusty Samsung is found, no drivers, and when I go to print it fires up, and doesn't do anything.

I tried installing the Samsung printer installer. The Easy Printer Manager installs, but neither the Smart Panel or Printer Driver complete.
