Installing a tethering app without Jailbreaking?

I have unlimited data with Verizon and would like to be able to tether with my Macbook Pro. Is there a way to install a tethering app without jailbreaking? I came across this article, though I'm not clear if it will do what I would like, and where I'd find a tethering app?

No, there isn't. Your only option without jailbreaking is to use Verizon's crappy tethering feature you have to pay for which gives you limited tethering data.

No, you cannot.
Some people that were JB before and installed a tethering hack via JB and then restored to stock ios version and used their previous JB backup had some success of the tethering hack carrying over from the JB backup to the stock ios version.
But that's not always the case and doesn't really help in your situation.

Two or three years back a few developers snuck an app with secret tethering capabilities through the App Store (one was a calculator) but I haven't heard of one since.
