Okay, so I'm using a Windows Vista Recovery disc originally packaged with a Toshiba computer to install Windows Vista on my iMac in Boot Camp. Before starting installation, I'm asked the question whether I want to proceed as the entire contents of my hard drive will be wiped... Is it only going to wipe the contents of the Boot Camp partition or actually the whole original hard drive, OS X etc? Thanks for any help.

First, you need to follow the directions for Boot Camp very carefully
The board is littered with threads where folks have nuked their OSX partition
I would recommend printing the directions and following them explicitly
Second, if I am not mistaken, you cannot install using a recovery disk that came with another computer
My understanding is that you will need a full retail version
But I'm sure others can shed some light on that

Most recovery discs are specific to the equipment manufacturer, and sometimes even to a particular model, and generally will not even begin the install on another piece of equipment. You can try to use it but it may not work at all; or, like HP's Pavilion recovery disc, it wants to create an image of the HDD as it was when it left the factory which will wipe out everything on your HDD in favor of Vista.
If you can get your hands on a Vista upgrade disc, it has all versions of Vista on it so you should be able to use as an install disc; when prompted, you can then use the product key from your Toshiba product and, ultimately, Vista will phone home to validate with the mothership. Of course, you cannot use the same product key for the Toshiba and your Vista install on the Mac.
