Installing apps on UK iphone

Hi there,

This will be my first post on here so hello to all!

I was just wondering if there would be any kind of risks involved if i tried to install 3rd party apps on my UK iphone on the night of release?
I understand that some apps might not work because of the new firmware but i would just like to try installing some to get used to the whole 3rd party app/interface hacking thing.
I have no intentions of unlocking but would like to hack the phone so i have a different interface and applications etc just as i have done with my psp.
Like with the psp i have heard of the iphone bricking, is this only when unlocking or is it also with 3rd party app/interface installing?
What are the risks if any? Or can i just play around with modding the interface and adding apps with only the worry that an app might not work with the latest firmware?

If I were you, I would wait until people confirm that third-party apps won't 'brick' your phone, or do irreversible damage to it. If you did happen to brick it with the new firmware, the warranty would be void, and also nowhere would take it back. You'd either have to wait for un-bricking software, or be stuck with a bricked phone (which is unlikely).

1.1.2 is currently un-jailbreakable. So unless you can wind back to 1.1.1 (which might/might not be possible) then 3rd party apps are not possible.

We won't know for sure the full situation until 1.1.2 is released or tomorrow, whichever comes first.
