Can Big Sur be installed to a flash drive? It works when I installed it to an external hdd but fails when installed to a flash drive. Catalina installed on the same flash no problems but Big Sur 11.3 stops at pci paused: sdxc. What's the difference?!

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll have a look. There's nothing in the SD card slot. I'm just installing the OS to a flash drive (usb drive, pern drive or whatever it's called). Catalina installs on it with APFS no problems but on the flash drive it fails to load. I'll try formatting it HPFS.
Take a look at The Eclectic Light Company's article on MacOS 11 bootvolume. I think the SDXC card cannot be formatted with the required APFS containers for Big Sur.
Update: Nope, doesn't work even if the flash drive is not formatted APFS. Still hangs at the same spot.
