first... you usually do not want to install DirectX with wine, it has its own version built in that often runs better, and installing MSes version can break things...

Second, thats not enough info to go on... that basically just says "uh oh this didn't work!" You'd need to provide what program it is your trying to get to work, and check the AppDB entry to see what other people have done.

okay, wine is the only thing i have ever heard of that can get direct x to work, so if you could tell me any other things to use that would be greatly appreciated. the game im trying to work is called the hunter and it requires direct x.
im not a crazy genuis at computers so its kinda hard to do,
thanks

DirectX is made by MS, and the game is trying ot install MS DirectX. I never said to not use Wine to run the game, I said Wine has its own version of DirectX already built in to it and you do NOT want to install MS's DirectX version if you can help it.I have no idea what "The Hunter" is... is that the full name of the game, is there a website? Your game requires a lot more than just DirectX, as its a Windows program (DirectX is Windows and Xbox only), and its possible Wine will be able to run it, I'm just saying if it gives you the optoin about installing DirectX, you say NO.
