It has hung at "less than a minute remaining" for an hour now. What do?

(Yes I know you all hate me for giving him a beta but that doesn't help.)

Mine hung at that for 30 minutes on a '13 Macbook Air using a rather fast USB 3 flash drive. Just give it another few hours and go from there.

why are you installing DP1 when the cGM just came out? Just install the cGM

I don't believe there's a way to install the GM directly, at least for now. You have to install DP1 or PB1 and then apply all the updates.

I wish Apple had given the new install media for the GM. 8 DPs is a lot to update.

FWIW, when I installed the first beta, I had the same experience, it wouldn't go past 1 minute remaining for over an hour. But thankfully, it eventually resumed.

When DP1 came out (and the next few deltas) this theory was correct - when no other full installers were available.

However since then there have been many full installers.

Here is a list of all the full installers:

DP1, DP5, DP7, GM1, PB1, PB2, PB3, PB4.

That's 8 full installers.

So if you were under the impression that DP1 is the only full installer, that was correct for a short time, but not for long. We have come a long way since then.

So if you want to install the GM directly, redeem a code for it in the mac dev center and you will get the full installer for the GM and you won't need any of the deltas.

Hey, you're right! I just redeemed the code once again and it started downloading the GM seed, all 5.17GB of it, so not a delta, but a full installer.

Now I expect the OP can just follow the instructions to create a bootable installer for Mavericks and they should work with Yosemite too.
