I've purchased the Aigital USB wi fi adaptor so I can run my Brother printer wirelessly. However, when I attempt to install the driver, I get this message:

and this is the certificate:

The instruction manual cautions the installer to ensure that other third party wi fi adaptors are disabled but I do not have any others. so I am assuming there is some conflict with something on my network. Do I need to enable USB LAN in network preferences and, if so, how do I do that?

Can you post a link for the driver? I'll try to install it in a virtual machine with Sonoma 14.3.

Thanks. Here's the install: No, wouldn't load. Can you do it from this?

Open System Settings - Privacy & Security and Allow the Realtek extensions to be loaded. Restart and try to install it again, just to be sure.

I've plugged it in and I get an indication on the finder toolbar but it does not appear in system extensions.
The notification in the toolbar says it's on:

It looks like it is working. What happens when you select one of those networks and enter the password? However, I notice they all look a bit weak.

Do you want to tell us a bit more about your printer (e.g. model) and what wifi functionality it has (e.g. Airprint)? And about your Wifi network - e.g. what is your Wifi access point? Do you have ethernet, as well as wifi? And what model Aigital?

If you can connect, then it’s on :)

Install.pkg should install RtWlanDisk.kext, RtWlanU.kext and RtWlanU1827.kext in /Library/Extensions and they should appear at least as Loadable in System Information - Software- Extensions (Kexts)
Kexts.jpg

The StatusBarApp app is placed in /Library/Application Support/WLAN along with RtWlanHelper.

Aigital support would be the first place to start.
If you can find it, I didn't :)

Thanks - I'll check if those folders have loaded. I've managed to get it to recognise my Vodafone network and it seems to be on. My Vodafone network is via the Vodafone router and the signal is inclined to be weak. Looks like it's all OK.

HDFan - I'm trying to get my Brother HL B/W printer to work wirelessly. I don't have ethernet. The model is

WiFi USB 1300Mbps, Tiny Antena Wi-Fi and, yes, gilby, it comes with the RealTek driver. It is RealTek I have written too, since I couldn't seem to get the driver to install. However, thanks to all three of you, it looks like I can get it to work the printer. I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.

A quick update. The device has now appeared on my Vodafone router screen, so looks as though all is OK.

Glad you got it working. However it may be a ticking time bomb. Can you return it? Checking Amazon reviews:

1. 22% of the reviews are low - 1 to 3 stars. Given that reviews tend to high then the poor review number may actually be higher.

2. Comments about their support are poor:

"I reach out to the manufacturer by email and they troubleshoot it for me and after I complied they say they will send me a new device. Not one detail afterwards, no device and no news, when I followed up by email I was ghosted."

"web site kept giving errors. "

3. Numerous reports of hardware issues

"after about 30 days it just failed"

The most useful comments I find are the 1 and 2 star ones. 4 and 5 star reviews are always problematic due to review factories.

Personally I am always willing to pay more for a premium product which has good reviews and support. Any product with reviews which reflects poor support I skip.

Me too. I slipped up with this one! However, many of the comments refer to Windows users and fortunately the Mac platform is more stable and I have a good reliable wi fi network via Vodafone. Realtek supply the software and they have not responded to my message. I've given it a rating of 3 on Amazon. It seems to be OK and stable at the moment, so I'll see how it goes. Given that it might fail, I wonder of you could recommend a more reliable model.
