MP 1,1-5,1 installing El Capitan on upgraded EFI cMP 4.1 (BootROM 144.0.0)

Hi Folks!
After attempting for a while to update my cMP4.1 to High Sierra/Mojave, I surrendered. Without the hardware upgrade, it simply not possible: my 2xQuadro 4000 for mac have glitches with both (I'm going to share a youtube video on that).
So I'm going back home to El Capitan.
I've got 2 issues:
1) when I use an old cloned hdd to boot, everything looks fine except that I don't have anymore the icon previews (I can't live without it). I've tried everything: from erasing the finder plist to creating a new account. Nothing sees to work.

2) when I try to install from scratch El Capitan, I've got an install issue (see picture). I've downloaded just today the installer to avoid expiration problems. Even if I create the usb install drive from Terminal with command:
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app
(where Untitled is the name of the usb drive)
it's not gonna work (seems not to be recognized at boot even if it's Mac GUID partitioned).


Could it be that the bootROM 144.0.0 (the one installed by mojave) is interfering with this old operating system?
Have you got any ideas/solutions?

No. it's something else, maybe something related to the certificates. Try to return the clock to before October 29 or maybe use the creation date of the installer.

144.0.0.0.0 was tested by me with ElCapitan and two other people tested with 10.6.8.

Btw, the BootROM runs up to the moment that the OS loads, after that is macOS that have the total control of your Mac.

If I return the clock back to 2017 I have an error reporting the installer is not verified... also if I return it to october 28 2019.
I've thought to download the installer when the clock is behind (2017), but I cannot even connect to the Internet in that case. :\

@tsialex I've followed your link. The problem is that for El Capitan, I can download the .dmg file and not the "real" .app installer. So I can only use that for installing over a already existing installation. If I try to use the .pkg (that is inside the .dmg), on a blank hdd, it's saying there's no operating system. In addition, I need to create a bootable usb key, and with the .pkg I really don't know if it's possible.

Today I've tried to use my installer (the one created with the .app downloaded yesterday from app store) and changing the date using the terminal, but the installation issue is always present (the same)

I'm not following, download the dmg and use createinstallmedia to create an USB installer.

Could you tell me the command to use createinstallmedia with a .pkg file? I know it only when using a .app file. pkg doesn't open as .app to "see contents".
 
I’ll check the new installer and the MAS one to see if Apple did something different.

If you have an 'older' El Capitan installer you will have to change the date.

1. Make an El Capitan USB stick installer. Use an 8gb USB stick

2. Boot the installer

3. Before starting the installer start Terminal.

4. In Terminal enter the following . . .

date 0931112715

5. Quit Terminal

Now the El Capitan installer should work OK.

Thanks @MIKX , I already knew that. My question here was different... Alex Told me to use the pkg to create the boot disc, and I don't know how to do that. Double clicking on it, it says it's going to install 7MB on the disc, but you can choose only a disc where an os installation is already present...

Btw... the command I used to install from the boot disc is "date -u 1010000018" (I don't know if that -u is making difference) and it's ok. Cheers

( I just got a 4,1 2 x 2.26 to upgrade, boot rom: MP41.0081.B07 )

I created a bootable USB install on my 6 core 3.46 by using Disk Utility to restore the El Capitan DMG / package ( it had to be 'scanned' first ) to my USB flash drive. I am not sure where I downloaded the image, I thought it was apple, i downloaded it yesterday and it was 6,204,632,113 bytes

I was repeatedly getting "Could Not Be Installed on your computer no packages were eligible for install" using both the internet el capitan install and this USB install.

Thank you MIKX using terminal > date 0931112715 just got me going!!

When I was waiting for setup to finish I downloaded the El Capitan DMG package linked above from the repairing damaged installs link and I note it is 6,204,629,298 bytes.
