I'm going to be installing a new hard drive in my mini and I just want someone to verify that I'm correct. So once the hard drive is installed, I turn it on and then insert the OSX cd, is that all or do I have to configure anything else? Also what hard drives do you guys recommend? Thanks.

I would super duper your new drive first, than put it in. If you send me your email I can send you pictures of the install. I did 500 gb in optibay and ssd in reg slot. intel x25 160. Lots of 80gb on sale right now. use 160 for boot and 500 to store.

Whoever told you that, dont take too much other advice from them.
Cause thats completely false.
Superduper is great, but $28 for the full version, which has some features you might want
Carbon Copy Cloner might be a better choice, since its free and offers some features you need.
For cloning, you need an external drive.
Clone your internal to the external, install the new drive, clone the external back to new internal.

Here's how I do hard drive replacements. I'm also a fan of Carbon Copy Cloner; SuperDuper is a bit clunky, IYAM.
Because CCC and SD make "bootable" backups.
If your internal drive dies with a TM backup it means replacing the bad drive first, then restoring from TM
If my drive dies, 2 seconds later my CCC backup drive is running again as my external bootdrive, ive lost no time.
apart from which copy program you use be very patient when changing the harddrive and watch carefully really really carfully what you are doing , as you would not be the first who destroys some things inside and wireless /bluetooth /sound stop working after the attempt to upgrade the mini
and use the right tools ,
