Installing iphone 4.0

Hey Guys,
So i am running itunes 9.1 and i downloaded the iphone 4.0 firmware for my phone 3G and i had a developer i knew activate my UDID roughly 24 hours ago... When i go to install the 4.0, itunes unexpectedly quits once it begins to install!
Ideas?

I just want to make sure that you are installing this correctly. In iTunes, alt-click on restore. It should open up a browser, click on the OS 4 file and let it install. I assume you did this?

I'm having the same problem, except that since I installed the beta sdk, instead of crashing iTunes throws error 3002. Only for iPhone 3G, 3GS upgrades fine.

Unless you have a spare iphone, i wouldn't install 4.0 (at least yet):

well i used x-code to update to 4.0 thats what the dev center said to do and my iphone runs perfect the only problem i had was my camera role pics weren't there but i had them backed up so no worries but idk for itunes on the dev site it said in BIG red letters DO NOT USE ITUNES TO UPGRADE so idk for u good luck
well i tested most of my like 30 or more apps work and my visual voicemail works so idk for u guys the photo app is buggy but it gets the job done

For me, the "update" option kept crashing iTunes.

So, I "restored" to iPhone OS 4.0

Took a while, but it worked.

Thanks a lot guys! i ended up restoring in xcode and it worked perfectly!! now i am just upset that there is a bug that does not allow wallpaper backgrounds on 3g. fingers crossed for the next beta! if anyone knows a hack or a trick that i can get background wallpaper like the 3gs can now without jailbreaking i would love that... maybe a different firmware file?
