Installing Linux From Terminal

Hi,

I've got into a bit of a situation where the install disks for my MacBook are in a different province, and my MacBook shows up with a blank screen and a folder with a question mark above it...I'm assuming the OS has uninstalled.

I borrowed one of my friend's install disks for Mac, and can access terminal. Now: is there any way for me to type a command into Terminal in order to install Linux for the time being.

If this isn't possible, is there any way to remove his disk from the drive, the eject key doesn't work.

Where are you going to install Linux from? It's not included on ANY OSX install disk (OSX is based on BSD a totally different OS than Linux).

If you want the CD/DVD back reboot holding down the mouse button.

Just get a Linux install disc and boot from it. What you have to do to install it depends what distro you are using and what computer you have, but I believe that Ubuntu will work out of the box or with minimal tweaking on a MacBook.
