So, I am installing Monterey on a 64GB SanDisk Ultra Fit, all going well until the welcome but doesn't get to user configuration to complete the install. It gets to the Apple logo, loads halfway, shows the welcome in all languages, then loops the process all over.

What's going on as 64GB should be sufficient? The computer is the 2013 Mac Pro, which also has a partition with Monterey.

Well, this issue seems that its a known problem and I am doing the recovery install...8hrs 49mins remain; so, I'll leave overnight...unacceptable for any human...maybe, I need AI to install it.

Was there anything already on the drive?
Or did you erase it first?

Erased it first however it apparently was not enough space. So, I used a SSD with an external enclosure which when smooth until discovering the next problem and the whole thing was a waste of time...was selling a Mac Pro which had a clean install Monterey but not confured. So, I wanted a screen shot of the memory -system profile to show with my offer but didn't want to mess up the clean install. Well, discovered an external won't boot (will not able to select it in start up disk) if there is no user on the Mac Pro.

Just occurred to me.
Sandisk "Ultra Fit" ... this is a USB flash drive, right?

You can't install the latest version of the OS onto flash drives or SD cards... just won't work.
Same for some platter-based hard drives.

Seems like the OS now requires a fast external "full hard drive" -- either SSD or perhaps a fast HDD.

Also, I've read where (incredibly) the Mac OS installer will want **more than** 64gb of free space in which to do the install. I could be wrong about this.
