I know it sounds silly. But I didn't want to partition and I wanted too keep lion incase there was anything I needed. And I wanted to save the hassle of reformatting and going back to lion.

So I double clicked the installer and it installed on to my flash drive. It took a few restarts but it finally worked. Booted from usb and loaded login window. I'm typing from the flash stick right now.

It was a generic 16gb from drys. Memory master I think. It was too slow and so I used carbon copy cloner to copy it to my "Dane-Elec" also 16gb. That is what I'm booting from right now.

A little slow and a few beach balls. But hardly enough to notice. Not much slower than my internal HD that came with my 2011 mini I got on July 23 this year at frys.

Now the next project is to try an SD card. BTW, what is 2.5 GT/s?? How many mb a second is that. That is what system report says my internal reader is.

Well either today or tomorrow I'm going to try an SD card. What is the fastest SD card as in Megabytes per second read and write??

Make sure you can boot from an SD card before you invest much time/effort/money into pursuing that option. I've tried it before and couldn't get it to work; but perhaps I was doing something wrong.
