Hi
I just enabled Apache and PHP, now I'm wondering how to install mySQL on Leopard. I've Googled it and apparently it needs some tweaking to make it work. I downloaded the TAR file, where would I go from now?
It looks like people who upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5 with a pre-existing mySQL install can get it to work, but the latest DMG installer (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html#macosx-dmg doesn't work 100% on a fresh 10.5 install.
The installer works fine, except that it doesn't create its default databases for some reason. Hopefully they will get a 10.5 installer that actually sets up the database properly. If you already had existing databases I suppose you could copy them over and it might work, but I haven't tried yet.
I'm probably going to end up doing that. It just kills me that the built-in Apache and PHP work beautifully for me pretty much out of the box. mySQL had plenty of time to get this straightened out methinks, and now (Surprise! - not) there are multiple Leopard-problem posts just on the first page of their forums.
