When I turned on my Mac today instead of going to the regular screen it went to a screen with a black background a white square in the center in the iMac Catalina picture in a circle in the center there was a message underneath that said “Installing on “LO;BGT” Stating that it would take 42 minutes. it would not let me cancel the process and it would not cancel itself when I shut the computer off and restarted it again.
What is it?

Generally it is telling you the name of the drive device name (in your case LO;BGT) it is installing to. Do you have auto update turned on in System Preferences->Software Update->Advanced...?

Look at a keyboard and the LO; and BGT keys are close together. Seems like some kind of keyboard mashing was probably involved in the cause.

Perhaps. - I have more than on one occasion accidentally renamed Macintosh HD because I didn't realise I had accidentally switched the active application to Finder, hit Enter and started typing, before catching up that the program I was looking at wasn't responding, and seeing that the Enter key had entered renaming for the SSD. So yeah, seems a possibility
