Help- I've downloaded from 3 different sources the OS 9 to 9.1 updater for my trusty old G3. It gets to a certain point in installation, then claims a checksum data error! I DID everything suggested before installation, including turning off all 3rd party extensions.

What now?? I need to upgrade to OS 9.1 to run an important program.

Thanks.

Did you upgrade it to 9.0.4 first?

edit: seems that you don't need to do that step first. See ASU #75288 for the downloads, and yes, 9.1 is downloadable.

Yeah, it's free...

So, I tried d/l from apple.com and 2 other sites. Think I got 2 diff. disk img versions. Both bombed mid-install. I will try the 9.04 earlier update first, but I am no longer at parent's place Upstate. Next weekend I will do this one first, to see ifI can "ease" the computer to taking it. Funny thing is, I had it installed on there before, no problemo. But I wiped the disk and re-installed from 9.0 disk. Back to square 1.

I'll post back in a week and let ya know how it turned out.
