Is there any way to allow for standard users to install OS updates?

A standard user may install OS updates. However, the standard user must use an Administrator's credentials to do so. Anything else would defeat the purpose of privilege levels, would it not?

The bottom line is an administrator account needs to authenticate the update, either. As mentioned doing anything different hamstrings the security protections in OSX

It makes sense. We have been mandated to have everyone run as standard users by our Information Security Department. We are experiencing some issues. We are currently waiting for a centrally managed tool to be deployed that will allow us to push updates to our users.

^^ We do the same with our windows PCs. Normal users are not local admins and updates are pushed through by an IS team.

The macs in our infrastructure are set up so the user IS an admin so they're on their own to update the system
