I apologise if this has been answered else where but I cannot find it.

I have downloaded and pressed install on the El Capitan update, but had Yosemite 10.10.5 waiting to be installed at the same time. When restarting it asked me to install all other updates at the same time. So I am assuming it installed 10.10.5

It went through the El Capitan update but after rebooting I'm still on Yosemite 10.10.5 and see no way to install El Capitan as the App Store thinks its already installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You should be able to download the installer any time. (and run it again)
The El Capitan download button is greyed out and says 'Downloaded' when in the updates tab.
I can press download on the El Capitan page but it doesn't do anything.

If the El Capitan Installer resides in the Applications Folder, you will not be allowed to download it again. Look in the applications and try to find it. Then try to install it, if it works your golden, if not, trash it. Then you will be able to download it again.

Great thank you, did not know about the installer being in applications.

Currently installing so looks to be sorted.
