Hi,

I had a iMac 2.8 with 500GB and Ati card. I backed up the whole hard drive via Time Machine, on my external LaCie hard drive.

Now I have my new iMac 3.06 with 1TB hard drive and a Nvidia card. I want to format it and copy all my files that I backed up on the LaCie. I think it is possible, but my question is :

If I copy all my files from my previous iMac with a different hardware configuration, is that not going to be conflicting with my new iMac and its own configuration ? Driver files, etc...

Cheers for your help and advice.

I wouldn't expect there would be any problems. I've used Time Machine numerous times on my Air and one time restoring a Macbook Pro from my Air. Those had completely different specs but it worked just fine.

Apple really did great with time machine. So far; flawless.

Yea Time Machine is great. I like it.

Still I wonder about the files for the drivers that makes the hardware work, especially for the graphic card.

Thanks for your reply. :)
