After installing a new hard drive on my IBook g4, I can't load OS X because my cursor will not move out of the upper left corner of the screen, so I can't click on the CONT. icon while installing. Any ideas

Have you tried unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in?

Does the trackpad not work either?

No the track ppad does not work. This is an ibook lap top, do you mean take it apart to access the track pad?

What mouse is it? It needs to be supported by the OS...

It's the trackpad that's broken, not a mouse.

To OP: I have no clue... hopefully someone with more brains will know.

You should be able to check it if you only take out the AirPort tray that covers the memory. The connector should be just in view from there. With luck it will only be loose, and you won't have a torn cable.
