Installing Parallels questions

I have a MacBook Pro and currently have it partitioned using Bootcamp and running XP.

I hate it. XP keeps blowing up and giving me the blue screen of death and I have having to restart constantly. I'm told Parallels will let me run Mac and Windows side by side with the ability to access either at the same time. True?

My next question is about installing Parallels. Do I need to go and delete my current partition and XP before I start? I've found a package that has XP Professional to install along with Parallels. This makes me ecstatic because I freaking HATE Vista.

If only there were a current version of IE for Mac, this wouldn't be an issue.
Stupid work software.

Anyway, any help anyone can toss my way, I'd be very grateful.

If you screwed up your XP via boot camp, chances are, booting your boot camp partition via parallels won't help.

Yes, you can use Parallels when in Mac OS, it will be a window on your desktop (or you can set it to a couple of other configurations).

You can install Parallels and have it use your existing BootCamp partition with your already installed XP.

You can install Parallels (or VMware Fusion), and this app will create a virtual Hard Drive on your Mac OS drive onto which you simply install a fresh copy of any version of Windows (see Parallels setup assistant pic below).
You can use the Boot Camp partition too, but I wouldn't recommend that as yours is crashing a lot. Just ignore Boot Camp.

Both Parallels and VMware make it possible to use Windows at the same time as OS X. Both apps have also some fun collaboration features, like making the Windows desktop invisible, and putting the Windows-apps in your Dock, etc.

If your having issues with Boot camp or Windows with Boot camp i would just delete that partition giving Mac OS X back it's space on the hard drive. Install Parallels fresh and start off as clean as you can. It should run fine.
