I am going to get a mbp in the next few weeks. It will be my first apple. I already know that I am going to add an extra gig of ram to the system. Will this void applecare? Both the free 90 days and the extended.

Short answer is no ..

long answer if you damage the MBP during install of ram then apple might not cover the repairs ..

Use this if your having trouble with ram install

They won't count the ram in your system if you ever need to send it off for repair. I would take it out before you send it off because if your system needs some major help, they will bring it back to stock or BTO, the way it first came when you bought it.

I don't know if I'd get a MBP as my first apple computer. Maybe you should get the iBook sucessor when it comes out? (Unless you really have deep planss for it with photoshop/FCP or something). They are expensive, and have been having some physical build problems.

General rule of thumb - don't spend the extra money if you don't need the extra power.

One more quick question. Ho wcan I find out what the correct ram to put in is?

Go to crucial.com and select your Mac or you can go macsales.com and select your mac and they will show you the ram that will fit in your system.
