Once again, I find myself out of space on my phone. PB2 requires TWELVE GB to download? So I'm hunting through trying to find things to delete.

But it would actually be much easier to just update through the Finder. There don't seem to be instructions anywhere on how to do this, and I haven't done it for ages. When I ask the Finder interface to check for a new update, it tells me that there aren't any available. Anyone have instructions on how to do this? It IS possible, right?

You would need Xcode to complete the installation as developer beta, the public beta is OTA only. Although they're the same version the installation methods differ slightly.

Yeah, I found developer IPSWs online, and I have XCode on my machine, but I'm really just looking for the public betas.

Generally the public betas are just developer betas pushed to public testers a few days later. They are exactly the same builds but distributed differently, Apple doesn't give out the IPSW for public beta testers to install. The only official method to install public beta is in the Settings app.

Simply put, developer beta 4 and public beta 2 are the same thing.

This is typically true, but has not been in this cycle though, as Apple has pushed refreshed builds to the 2 public beta releases so far. While they also updated in the Developer channel, they differ from the initial beta releases on the dev channel.
