installing/uninstalling apps?

Obviously, installing/uninstalling apps on a Mac is a different process as compared with a PC. When I tried to install bit torrent, I get an icon similar to that of my flash drive when I plug it in.

My intention is to get that file into the Applications folder, and then put a shortcut to the app into the dock. How would I go about doing that?

Instead of doubleclicking it, you have to drag and drop the file to your application folder and then opening it. (you can then guess how easy it is to uninstall it from here...)

To get it to reside in the dock, ctrl-click on the application while it's open and choose "keep in dock". You can also just drag and drop it into the dock from the applications folder.

Open that icon on your desktop. At the top right hand corner of the window that appears will be a little button. Click on it to switch the Finder view to the more familiar metal-look one with the icons down the left hand side.

Now drag the BitTorrent icon from the right hand panel to the Applications shortcut icon on the left. That installs the app.

Click on the Applications icon to move to the Applications directory. When you find the BitTorrent app in there, drag it to the Dock. That creates your shortcut. You can now eject the BitTorrent "volume" by dragging the disk-like icon from your desktop to the trashcan on your Dock.

And that's it.

You can also just drag and drop it into the dock from the applications folder.

thats all you need to do. dont you just love macs!
