Hello!

I am wondering what the best method is to get the most recent Windows 10 version (1909) working effectively with my Mac Pro 4,1 -> 5,1?

I've been following the tutorial on how to install boot camp without a boot screen by @h9826790 (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/how-to-boot-camp-without-a-boot-screen.2114788/post-26689280). However, the user's last update (Feb 2020) states that Boot Camp 6.1.9 will only allow users boot to the latest macOS drive, and that Windows 10 (1909) does not allow Bootcamp 5 package to be installed anymore. Is this method, using Brigadier and Boot Camp, now redundant? Has anyone discovered a work around?

I have decided to create this new thread to create a comprehensive and up-to-date guide for this problem.

Thank you!

My machine:
Model: Mac Pro 2009 4,1 -> 5,1
CPU: 2 x 6 core Intel 5670 2.93 GHz
GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB
Storage: 250GB SSD (Mojave), 1TB HDD (extra Mac space), 1TB HDD (dedicated to Windows).

Just to update this:

I have now got Windows 10 (1909) working some-what smoothly. I have followed the instructions here @h9826790 (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/how-to-boot-camp-without-a-boot-screen.2114788/post-26689280), to install Windows 10 legacy via disk and install RealTek and bluetooth packages for the MacPro5,1. I have stopped the tutorial at this point, and not installed BootCamp6 as I have heard of issues occurring in relation to this. I have also installed the up-to-date drivers for my GPU from AMD.

Everything is working great and as expected. To get from Mac -> Windows, I change my start up disk in system preferences. And to get back from Windows -> Mac, I need to reset the NVRAM.

Hmmm, annoying! :(

As i have a GPU supporting the bootscreen and with that the mac's bootmanager (at least with one of it's two bioses) it is somewhat easier for me. But for some reason i prefer to run the card with it's genuine PC-bios. So i would really like to be able to choose the boot volume in Windows too. Is there really no way to get the Bootcamp-Assistant app working for Win 10 1909 in the cMP 5,1 again?
