Installing Windows 7 on BootCamp?

Hi, I'm going to install Windows 7 on BootCamp (64 BIT), what do I need?

Do I insert the Mac OSX DVD , to get it to install the drivers for the motherboard, processor, or whatever else it needs? - or is there a specific DVD that came with it for installing those drivers into windows?

I have a 1TB hdd, if I set it to use 64GB of that, it should be enough right?
Will I still be able to use the remainder of that 1TB hard drive?

When I delete the BootCamp Partition is it easy? (like with Parallels, you click delete, and it removes the image file)

Is it installed as an image file on the drive? or what? (Parallels uses an image file)

Hi. To answer your questions:

The OS DVD does have windows drivers. It will install and run well enough without them to start with. You should probably download them from apple support though, the web site has a newer version than the DVD.

Boot camp uses a separate partition, not an image file. The rest of the drive is of course usable. You can delete the partition later and resize the other partition on the disk to recover the space if you want. Disk manager handles all that. 64g should be enough, if you don't need to install a lot of games...

You can set up VMWare (and probably parallels too, I only use VMWare) to use the boot camp partition as a windows device, so you don't need to install windows twice (unless you want to).

I have successfully installed Windows 7 64-bit on a couple of Mac Book Pros and a Mac Pro 2008. I have also installed it on an first generation Mac Pro, but it was more difficult - as you have to make an install DVD with the EFI boot removed.

Mythic is right in that Windows 7 comes with the drivers for most everything - but what is sorely missing are the drivers for the keyboard and boot selection support. The boot selection is especially necessary as I can't get OS X to allow me choose the Windows 7 boot partition from the Startup Disk setting (probably because of MacFuse).

You can get around this by using the Bootcamp 2.1 installers. These are included on the new 10.5.6 install DVD. You can't run the setup.exe from the root of the install DVD. Instead, you have to go into the \Drivers\Apple directory and run the bootcamp64.msi directly.

I am having problems installing Windows 7 on my 2.16Ghz 20" iMac with Radeon X1600. The thing is that I'm not even able to get the Windows boot/installer disk going because right after I tell Bootcamp to install Windows and it restarts, going to the Windows DVD, I get a cryptic message indicating it wants me to select dvd-rom load option or something but then doesn't respond to anything I try to input (just seems locked up).

Is this an error that rings any bells for anyone? I am trying to install Windows 7 RC x64. Extremely frustrating!
