Installing XP on Boot Camp or Parallels

Hi,
I have a XP Pro CD that is several years old and without SP2 on it. I was about to install on my mac using boot camp and stopped because the installation instructions said the CD must have SP2. Very big bummer.

I also have purchased the Parallels and was wondering if the XP Pro CD would work on there? Does anyone know? IF it does work, can I install SP2 later? I have a CD with SP2 on it or I believe you can install through windows updates directly from Microsoft's website.

Also, for the boot camp, I needed to partition my hard drive which I did and now want to remove the partition since I am not installing through boot camp. Anyone know how to do that?

It will work. SP2 is avaliabe through Microsoft's website, you should be able to upgrade like that.

You will be able to install XP without SP2 and then upgrade it. If you're interested, you can create an XP install CD with SP2 by 'slipstreaming' the update and burning a new installer disc. This is what IT departments do so they can install Windows and then not have to spend 3 hours running updates. Search for nLite if you're interested.

As for removing the partition, you can use Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities. In there, select your disk and then the 'partition' tab. You can delete the Boot Camp partition and then click-and-drag to expand the Macintosh HD partition back to fill the entire disk.

Thank you for the reply. I did the slipstreaming last night and while it took me a while because I am not computer saavy I was able to do it.
