Hey everyone,

My school (University of Waterloo) has a strong relationship with Microsoft, and allows students to download free copies of Microsoft software, for FREE, LEGALLY. Here is proof:

If you don't have Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can download a copy, free of charge, from IST's website.

So I decided to download Windows XP Pro SP2. The file is an .EXE file. I want to install this on my MacBook, via Bootcamp. However, Bootcamp requires a Windows CD, correct?

How do I install this using the .EXE file only?

Thanks.

Erm the link seems to suggest they give out free versions of anti-virus software for Windows and Linux. How big is the .exe file...?

Is the exe file self extractable? may be it extracts to a location and will have either an iso file (as a download would be from technet) or a directory that you can just burn to disc.

Thanks

Check again and make sure you haven't downloaded the SP2 Service Pack?
Edit: I had missed the 404 kb.

I've downloaded full versions of Windows from Microsoft in the past and they have all been disc images, which you can burn straight to disk.

well from my experience at my school with this, the exe is a program you run that then downloads the iso file

I'm doing a part time IT course and the college I attend have the Microsoft deal. I actually came across this problem. To cut a long story short I borrowed a DVD with XP SP3 already on it, and used the installation key Microsoft sent me, and it worked brilliantly.
It's amazing I can download ALL Microsoft software for free, and I don't want any of it, unless it's part of the course.
