I'm on a MBP 2011 with two separate drives - a 120 GB SSD that has OS X (Mavericks) and my applications on it, and a 1 TB HDD with my home folder on it (with all my documents, music, photos, videos, etc.)

I was thinking of installing Yosemite beta on a separate partition of my SSD (the startup drive). I have about 60 GB free on that, so I could easily partition off a 40 GB partition to install Yosemite on. But my question is — will my new Yosemite partition be able to access all the applications on the Mavericks partition? And what about my home folder on my 1 TB HDD? Would I need to change any settings to make this work?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have almost the exact same setup as you, except I'm planning on installing it to a 50gb partition I made on my standard hard drive, and I'm also wondering the same thing.

Bumping this thread — can anyone please lend any insight?
