http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/07/07/jivetalk-for-the-apple-iphone/

Jivetalk for iPhone (alpha) highlights:

Current Features:

- multi-network, multi-accounts, unified Buddy List
- instantaneous chats
- iPhone-specific look and feel
- save accounts, encrypted passwords
- multi-chats, chat switching
- auto-reconnects, roam between WiFi and EDGE
- auto-reconnect when disconnected
- buddy info, profile/away messages, custom status messages, display
names, etc.

Coming Soon:
- battery saver mode
- support for emoticons
- email/call/hyperlinks
- most other features in JiveTalk for the BlackBerry, but not all though.

The public alpha should be available starting Monday. To use it, just point Safari on your iPhone to www.beejive.com, and it will automatically direct you to the iPhone IM client. Let us know what you think of it when you try it out!

I used this all the time on my BlackBerry. It was in beta while I used it, but it always worked wonderfully.

Convieniant though that they decided to start charging for it and my free license ran out on June 29th. :D

The site is up now and I just gave it a quick run. It looks pretty nice!

Interface is a lot like iChat. One qualm I have right now is that since it's a web-based app, the first time you send/receive messages, it has to load the green/blue talk bubble images.

Otherwise, it seems really easy to manage, and while in a conversation, it provides you with a "Home" button (takes you back to the buddy list) as well as an "End" button to end the current conversation.

For quick swapping between multiple conversations, there are talk bubbles in the upper right representing each of your current conversations. A quick tap sends you to that conversation.

This is currently the best AIM client I've used so far on the iPhone. Give it a shot!

I just get a blank screen when I go to iphone.beejive.com on my iPhone. Guess they may be having issues?

i get:

"type error, undefined value" when i try to login to google and hotmail accounts...

?

r.

It's alright, but it's a little buggy, lags my browser, and I got an error when I opened it back up at one point.

It works fine but I'm wondering how feasible is it to leave it on all the time?

My main beefs with it:

1) Safari crashes a lot which isn't JiveTalk's issue but it does deter me from leaving it on. I can browse in other tabs but more often than not the whole thing crashes which logs me out
2) Will all callers to me get kicked to voicemail if I have Safari minimized?

All in all though, very cool app. Best IM client I've seen yet. I wish there would be a way to not show online users though or to hide AIM profiles as some of my buddies have obscenely long profiles...

I tried it... no audible notification of a new message, so how are you suppose to carry on multiple conversations?
