I searched before posting. I couldn't find anything that was like what I was specifically looking for. If I missed a thread, please post it here.

What I'm looking for is an App that allows some sort of messaging between iPod Touches. I don't care if it's AIM or what, I just really need one that will have a near-instant notification badge or noise when a message is recieved.

I read that the AIM client loads a badge up to FIFTEEN minutes after a message is received; is this true?

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!!

There are no applications that can do that yet...at least whilst the application is in the background. (if it's open, then it should be instant)

AIM, Palringo, and MobileChat all keep you connected when you exit the application...but you only get your messages when you open the application again.

This is why the Push notification services are such a big deal and why everyone is appalled that it was removed from 2.1...

people are totally overreacting to the lack of push from the latest 2.1 seeded to devs. (just like how everyone was overreacting to yesterdays keynote "OMG STEVE ONLY TALKED ABOUT 2.1 FOR 5 SEC")

just cuz it doesn't have push in it doesn't mean it won't be in the final build nor did they ever say it would be for 2.1.

they said sometime in September so it could be 2.1.1 etc i'm very anxious for PUSH but they said September so we'll have to just wait it out.

for the record, you can scratch mobilechat off that list. it does absolutely NOTHING.
