MP 1,1-5,1 Instructions for replacing the power button on a Mac Pro 5,1?

The power button on my Mac Pro 5,1 wet bad. I swapped one out from an old case, but I wasn't able to remove the locking ring without bending it. For something as essential as the power button, it would have been nice it it had been designed so it would be easy to replace without damaging the locking ring. Is there a trick to getting the ring in and out without damaging it? I have looked for an informative video but couldn't find one. It's especially hard for someone like me with big and clumsy fingers. Perhaps it takes just the right tool? After replacing the power button (and slightly bending the locking ring in the process), the two red OVTMP lights came on and stayed on. It took a long time to figure out how to fix that problem. After hours of trial and error, I found that the problem went away when I disconnected and then reconnected the tiny cable on the power button. The computer now works fine, but it's obviously not right. I have ordered a new power button and am hoping to learn how to install it properly.

Thanks! I had seen those instructions, but I wasn't able to remove the C-ring without bending it. It would be nice if they had used a C-ring that has the ends bent outward so it could be squeezed with needle-nose pliers.
