I had recently been trying to talk my cousin into buying an iBook when he decides to buy a laptop. It is his first computer purchase and he is worried about receiving viruses and having to buy antivirus software. I told him macs are nearly impervious to virus threats and that he need not worry about getting antivirus software, and as proof i told him that in the 3 yrs ive had my iMac ive never once had a problem with viruses and never had a need for antivirus software. In comes an uncle of mine who thinks windows machines are better than macs in every subject matter. He says that the only reason i did not receive viruses was because i had antivirus installed all along, I told him that it wasnt true that macs just plain didnt get viruses as much as their windows counterparts. As such i made a bet with him, if he finds any antivirus software on the mac, i have to give him my whole setup, including computer printere scanner etc. which he will sell and by a windows computer with for himself, if he does not find any he will pay for a mac himself as a replacement for my already aging computer. Good deal but im starting to wonder could there possibly be an antivirus installed within the OS? It would be horrible if he found one and i had to loose my computer
