Hi I have a Windows PC and Apple laptop but prefer the iPhone because I like an app based device like the iPhone compared with Android and also iMessage. I’m pretty much totally integrated in Google Chrome and Gmail for my personal and business though. I’m happy with the integration of Chrome iOS with my pc and laptop, bookmarks and other web related stuff integrate nicely. I use lots of Chrome extensions.

However I don’t like Android smartphones because from my experience the iPhone is a much better user experience like with Apps which I use a lot for personal use. I much prefer an App vs going to the actual webpage.

To start my first since I’m integrated in Google but prefer the iPhone is there a way to open links from any sources like the mail app for example to Chrome?

Anyone use else integrated in Google but prefer the iPhone but use Window pc’s? Thanks!

While I’m not using much if anything from the ad company I think I read here somewhere that iOS 14 will let you set the default browser and email client to other non Apple apps. This might be just the ticket.

Google apps on iOS have a reputation of being better than Google apps on Android. I even read this recently. I used to be a purebred Google fan. We use Google Apps for our work email. Gmail on iOS is REALLY nice to use. Google Drive on Mac OS and iOS is very nice to use.

Using Gmail app on your iPhone - there is a setting to use Chrome for links. --- To answer your question, ericwn is right - not till iOS 14 will the native mail app have that ability.

From ios14 you can have chrome and gmail as default apps for browsers and all other google apps also exists and work maby even better on ios than on android since iphones have better optimised hardware than most android phones

Apple's services are optional. You can use any service you want though, including Google. Google's services are how I was able to use my iPhone to sync with my PowerBooks back in 2012 - because Apple's services would not sync with my PowerBook.

I've had a Yahoo email account since 1999, so had I chosen that route as well I could have used Yahoo's services.

As mentioned, Google's apps on iOS are better than they are on Android, which leave me scratching my head considering Android is Google's platform.

I really hope so. This is a minor reason I've been jailbreaking since 2011.

Any App on iOS beats Android hands down. I hate Android devices but like Google services.

Well, that's another argument I suppose. :D

Currently, my primary phone is a Pixel 3a XL, but I own several iPhones and an iPad. My 6s+ was my primary phone until May of last year.

I bring all that up because after a year on Android, there are a couple of apps I like better than the iOS version. I suppose that's all just subjective though in my case.

How do I interstate Chrome etc on my iPhone for a better Google experiment. For instance I use the native mail app and when I click on a link it opens up in Safari. Is there a way to get it to open in Chrome? I suppose if I use the Gmail app the same will happen.

You have to jailbreak right now. As everyone else said, only iOS 14 will allow you to do this stock.

Typically what I will do, is either copy/paste the link into the browser I choose, or allow iOS to open Safari, then copy/paste the link (and quit Safari).

Can you recommend a jailbreak that does this.

The jailbreak itself doesn't do that. A jailbreak allows you to install tweaks that modify the system, something Apple does not like. Unfortunately, because Apple fights jailbreaking you have to be on the correct firmware to jailbreak.

If you are on iOS 13.5 or less then there is a jailbreak. Apple fights jailbreaking by patching and issuing updates. So if you're on 13.5.1 then there is no current jailbreak.

I know there is a tweak out there that allows you to change default apps, but I have no idea what it's called. My last serious involvement was with iOS 9 and a lot has changed since then.

Here is the jailbreak matrix: https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/wiki/escapeplan/guides/jailbreakcharts

Be aware that many unscrupulous people prey on the ignorance of iPhone/iPad users who know nothing about jailbreaking. There is a ******** of fake jailbreaks out there, so the link I give above is one of the primary trusted sources for jailbreaking.

You would be wise to only get your JB info (including tweaks) from this source: https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/new/

Darn I want an iPhone that can integrate with Google like other Apple devices, desktop and MacBooks.

I often wanted to know how the Pixel compares. But I love iMessage.

Anyone find that Chrome on iOS isn’t as clean as Safari? Lot of text on Chrome iOS is clunky and buttons aren’t as clean.

No, but I don't really use Chrome OR Safari.

On my iPad I'm using Edge. Most of my other iPhones I use Dolphin or Opera.

If you like Safari, great, but there are plenty of other options. Not me though, I've hated Safari since Apple created it.

Ultimately though, given how iOS is designed (at least so far) aside from some UI and related differences all the browsers still basically use the same backend rendering in terms of how web sites are presented and function.

I use Gmail for work and personal purpose and I primary use a Windows 10 desktop (I do have a Macbook pro 13 but I only use it when travelling mostly, or if I need to do any programming for iOS). I have very good experience with Google apps like Gmail on iOS. I do also use Google drive and other stuff a bit but mostly Gmail. I have used Android in the past and very long time ago Gmail was better, however since they did a revamp on the iOS platform (forgot how long ago, must be more than 5 years +) I actually think I like Gmail on iOS than on Android. Like @BigMcGuire have mentioned, I do find Gmail and also Google drive apps on iOS to be really polished.

FYI I use an iPhone X and have been using the iPhone since iPhone 4S. I also do use a Google Nexus 5 occasionally.

Download the Gmail app for iOS. You can have it open links in Chrome on iOS by default instead of Safari.

Also, download Google Photos and set it to automatically backup your camera roll. Google apps works great together on an iPhone.

I rotate between the iPhone and Android on a regular basis. Currently, the iP11 Pro Max and S20 Ultra are my main devices.

Between the two phones ......
I sync everything like contacts, calendar, and etc with Google.
I use Google Voice for my Voice Mail and have Google Voice app on both platforms.
I also use Google Drive on both platforms.
I use the Gmail App on both.
I use Outlook for all other email accounts.

On iOS ......
I use iCloud to auto sync my photos and videos. Simply because 3rd party cloud services like Google Photos, Onedrive or Dropbox can't auto sync without the app being open or in the foreground.

On Android .....
I use Onedrive and Google Photos to auto sync my Photos and Videos.

I have to admit that Safari iOS is much cleaner and seems more polished than Chrome iOS.
