Integrating External Hard Drive with Apple TV

Hello All,

I currently have a 1TB external drive installed into my Apple TV through NitoTV. However, to access any files, I have to go to the nitoTV tab and look through the external drive, rather than simply find movies/music/etc. under their regular tabs. Is there a way to fully integrate the external drive with the Apple TV software so that files appear alongside those on the internal apple tv drive?

Download and install ATV Flash (black). That way you will get an additional tab called Media under which you can add links to different folders on your external drive and call them Movies, Shows, Music etc.
 
Sorry, I should have clarified. I am using a first generation apple tv. Will this still work for the original ATV?
