Intel 320 SSD compatible with iMac 27?

As the title states. Would i be able to use a Intel 320 SSD as a bootdrive for my iMac?

I have read that 320 has the same controller as X25 so it should work?
 
Any SSD with SATA interface should work. Intel 320 is also a good choice because its firmware can be updated without Windows and it does not suffer from issues in OS X like some SSDs do.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am actually in the store deciding whether to buy the 320 or not.

So iMac is compatible with any SSD? Does compatibility have anything to do with TRIM support? Do you know anyone who is running an iMac on Intel 320?

Any SSD should work but some are better than others. Intel 320 is one of the best, especially in terms of compatibility. Intel 320 supports TRIM and you can enable TRIM with TRIM Enabler. I don't know anyone who has Intel 320 in iMac but I do know plenty of MBP users with that SSD and several iMac users with the older but basically the same X25-M.

It is hard to find any examples as 320 is quite a recent release.

Also just another question regarding the thermal sensor connector, i have heard some SSD does not come with one so their iMac fans runs on very high RPM. Would this the case for 320?

Are you going to replace the HD or SuperDrive? Or adding it to the "SSD slot" (only in 2010 iMacs)? If you have 2010 iMac, then I recommend you to put it in the space that is meant for the SSD. There is no thermal sensor to worry about in that method. If you have 2009 iMac, then I would recommend replacing the SuperDrive because its thermal sensor is different and can be used with an SSD (basically, you just stick the sensor somewhere on the SSD).

Ah thanks for the clarification. I would be getting a refurbished 2010 iMac when the 2011 iMac releases. Hopefully i will be adding the SSD into its proper slot, however from viewing the guides it seems that you need to disassemble a lot more component in order to reach its proper slot. So i might consider to replace the HDD if it is too hard.

So what happens to the thermal sensor if you are to replace the HDD in a 2010 iMac?
