Hi everyone!

I have a macbook pro mid 2012, and my video card: Intel HD Graphics 4000. I want a extra display, but i don't know if my video card can get 4k and 60hz? And if he can't do that, which resolution shall i take? 1920x? or 2560x1080? Can you help me?
- Thanks

According to this article, up to 2560x1600 on an external monitor is possible (obviously on the Mini Displayport as the mid-2012 doesn't have HDMI). I've done 2560x1440 (via MDP) at 60Hz on my Mini, which has the same HD4000. There are people who have reported that 4K UHD at 30Hz is possible through installing some software.

Thank you for your reaction! I think i can better choce the 2560x1440 or the 2560x1600. But can i use 2560x1600 with 60hz, and no lagg?

2K @ 60 Hz is possible, although laggy. :/

Thank you!

You can't do 4k.
You CAN do 2k (1920x1080). This is also called 1080p.

I just got a BenQ PD3200U and my MBP 13" mid2012 can display
through the miniDP 3840x2160@30Hz. No mod required.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 13" with Intel HD Graphics 4000 connected to a Dell P4317Q monitor and even with a DisplayPort to MiniDisplayPort cable it only goes to 30Hz at 4K resolution [3840x2160]. The next resolution down is 2048x1080 and it does 60Hz (along with the even lower resolutions).
