Hi everyone.

I have a Benq 19" LCD display as my secondary display connected via minidvi -> dvi connector off of my 20" iMac (intel).

The screen is very dark despite my brightness controls on the monitor itself.

The brightness was not an issue when connected to other hardware.

Is this a known issue and/or is there anything I can do to brighten up the display?

Thank you for your time.

Have you tried fiddleing with the brightness control in the system preferences at all?

The brightness control is present for the iMac, but not my external monitor. Is that standard?

Funny you should say that, I hooked up my 19" to my 17" iMac and also found the display appears to be quite dim. So much so I just unhooked it and I've not used it since.

I'm suspecting though that the quality of the iMac screen is putting the external one to shame. :D

Edit - Using a VGA connection.

I have a 24" inch dell connected to my 20" imac and it works great no diffrence between the two. Hope it helps

Here's a bit of an update - went through the calibration steps for the secondary display and it did help... still significantly dimmer than the apple display, but that is to be expected I guess. Nice having dual displays for sure.
